ECOT Root Certificate Users on a home PC may install the ECOT Root Certificate to their computer in order to stop browser warnings when visiting ECOT encrypted pages. This will not affect security of a home PC in any way. Without this certificate your browser is warning you that ECOT sites are trying to communicate with you securely, and manually makes you acknowledge that you trust the site. When installed it lets your computer know that ECOT sites are authorized to pass traffic securely. Right click the link below, and choose to save the file to your computer. If you are using Internet Explorer you will also have to change .htm portion of the file name to .cer in the file name box when it asks you where to save. Once it is downloaded double click on the file. In the window that comes up click Install Certificate, click next through the prompts, and click finish to complete the installation. You should receive a message that the import was successful. |
