How to download and install Internet Explorer 6, SP1 on an ECOT-Supplied PC.
You may want to print these instructions, so that you can refer to them during the installation process.
- Log into your ECOT computer (online) normally, to connect to the Internet.
- Click on the "Start" menu.
- Click on "Settings"
- Click on "Control Panel".
- Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs"
- Wait a few seconds for the window to load.
- There should be 6 or 7 items in the list.
- If the list is empty, make sure the "Categories"
drop-down box is set to "Student Software".
- If the drop-down is correct and you still see no items to install,
make sure you have done all the updates in the above Technology section.
- If you have performed the Technology updates, you may need to call the Help Desk for assistance.
- Click once on the "Internet Explorer" item to select it.
- Click on the "Add" button.
- Several windows will come and go (do NOT hit the "Cancel" button on any of them).
- After some time, the last window will prompt you to restart your computer.
Click the "Yes" button to restart (you MUST restart your computer).
